About Clay Hair

Clay Hair has been a Champion Race Car Driver in every form of motorsports he has participated in. Clay began his career began as a young child racing motorcycles and dirt bikes in the red clay of the Carolinas. His first major stop was IHRA and the world of Professional Drag Racing. The highlights of his stint in straight line racing was winning the 1993 IHRA Modified World Championship and being named the 1994 IHRA Sportsman of the year, but his real passion was to drive on oval tracks. The invention of 600 Racing and the Legends Car in the mid-1990’s gave the Mt. Pleasant, NC resident the opportunity he had been looking for.

“When I saw the Legends Car it was a natural fit for me”, states Hair. “I just felt comfortable in a Legends Car right from the start and wanted to prove to myself that I could make a successful transition from Drag Racing to Oval Racing”.

The rest may we say, is history. In 2004 Clay was the first inductee into the Legends Car Hall of Fame. The same year he was honored with induction into the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Hall of Fame for becoming the All-Time Winning Driver at the historic Concord, NC track. He has now has amassed over 550 feature wins and continues to consistently win more than 30 races per year.

Clay’s career has come full circle with his set up books, new set up DVD program, and continuing to dominate the Legends racing business.
Clay won the 2006 Bilstein Madonna Award for outstanding achievement in motorsports and this is the highest honor one can receive in motorsports.
In 2007 he won every major points championship and national race there was!!

Look for the Back to Back National Masters Champion’s Hauler at Legends Car events throughout the 2008 season as he attempts to defend his title and pick up his 7th Career National Championship.

He is usually traveling with his wife, Woodson, son Stone, and new baby daughter, Carter.
